Dress Code

The Brauser Maimonides Academy dress code is required for all students in 1st-8th grades.  It was established to help us create an atmosphere where students will be focused on their learning and maintain a serious attitude toward their studies. By minimizing distractions, we are able to create an environment that is most conducive to learning.

The dress code outlined below was designed to best meet the above-mentioned goal while allowing the parents and students some flexibility and ease the cost and/or the difficulty of finding appropriate clothing.  Clothing should be clean and in good condition.  Stains or holes are not acceptable.

Please note: Tzitzit for boys in Grades 1-5 are mandatory.

Tops:

  1. White, light blue or dark blue collared button-down or three-button polo shirt.  Middle School students may wear burgundy as well.
  2. Shirt sleeves must reach mid-muscle.
  3. Girls may layer their shirts.  The uniform shirt must be the outermost layer.  Shirts worn under the uniform shirt may be any color.
  4. Shirts should not be too tight or oversized.  Shirts that cannot stay tucked in are too small; shirts more than one full size larger than appropriate are considered oversized.
  5. Shirts may not have any writing or pictures on them.
  6. Full button down shirts must be tucked in during and between all classes.
  7. Shirts may have only one button open at the neck.

Field Trips Days:

When traveling off-campus for a field trip, all students are required to wear the official BMA school shirt and navy bottoms.  Shirts cost $12 and are available for purchase in the Main Office.

Please familiarize yourself with these guidelines and review them with your child(ren).  The dress code will be enforced, and students who do not comply with the dress code will not be admitted to class or permitted on class trips.

A Jewish Day School is a makom kadosh, a holy place, comparable in sanctity to a synagogue.  Therefore, we kindly request that all adults who come on campus set a positive example for our children and dress in modest attire. (No tight fitting exercise/gym clothing, sleeveless or tank tops, excessively tight pants or short skirts.)  Men should wear kippot.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
